BioTE Hormone Therapy

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, or BHRT, is a form of hormone therapy that has existed in the U.S. for many decades and uses hormones that are structurally similar to those found within the human body which are the closest to the type of hormone produced by our bodies.

  • Best Care Community and Family Health Center is a Biote Certified Provider with offices in Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Immokalee, and Belle Glade, FL
  • Biote is the nation’s largest hormone optimization company and has been in business for over 12 years.
  • Biote has translated more than 80 years of scientific insight into the foundation of the Biote Method, which identifies and aims to help with the earliest signs of aging.
  • We at Best Care Community and Family Health Center have chosen to partner with Biote because we believe our patients deserve the best – Biote is one of the only hormone optimization companies actively contributing to furthering the science behind hormone optimization.
  • We work with each of our patients on an ongoing basis to analyze their symptoms and lab results using customized dosing to develop a unique, personalized treatment plan for each patient.

What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

  • As we age, our bodies naturally start to reduce the amount of hormones like testosterone and estrogen they produce.

  • Hormones such as these are incredibly important to how many areas of your body function – such as your brain, heart, bones, reproductive organs, and more.

  • When these hormones are out of balance, people can experience a number of different symptoms.

  • Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a method of restoring the balance of your hormones and aiming to relieve these symptoms, using compounded hormones that are identical in structure to those your body naturally produces. That way, your body recognizes and uses these replacement hormones in exactly the same way it would hormones it produces naturally.

The Biote Method of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

  •  The Biote Method of hormone optimization is the result of condensing over 80 years of scientific research into a program that may help with the earliest signs of aging.

  • The Biote Method uses pellets, which are about the size of a grain of rice, for hormone optimization. Your provider at Best Care Community & Family Health Center inserts these tiny pellets under the skin during a simple, in-office procedure.

  • The pellets will then dissolve slowly over time – they only need to be re-administered approximately every 3-5 months, depending on the patient.

  • As the pellets dissolve, they release a steady stream of hormones into your bloodstream, and will ultimately be completely absorbed, leaving nothing behind.

The Importance of Hormone Balance

  • Most women see a significant drop in estrogen and testosterone during menopause, while many men may experience a similar phenomenon relating to testosterone, known as andropause.
  • Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream.
  • Hormones are important for regulating most major bodily processes. Because of their essential role in the body, even the smallest hormonal imbalance can cause side effects throughout the body.

What Is the Potential Advantage of Bioidentical Hormones?

Bioidentical hormones, such as the ones used by Biote, work with the body’s chemistry because they closely replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that normally occur within the body.

Who is a great candidate for HRT?

People experiencing symptoms of fatigue, decreased sexual libido, vaginal dryness, irritability, insomnia, difficulty in losing weight, and anxiety.

What Is Pellet Therapy?

Biote Certified Providers receive training on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in the form of subcutaneous pellets. These pellets are inserted into the fatty tissue of the upper buttocks area during an in-office visit after lab testing is done to determine the exact quantity of the hormone the patient requires. Every dose is customized based on a consultation and extensive lab work to ensure a patient receives the exact concentration of hormones needed.

Bioidentical hormones, such as the ones used in training by Biote, work with the chemistry of the body because they replicate the molecular structure of the hormones that normally occur within the body.

What Health Concerns May Estrogen Pellets Relieve?

Estrogen pellets are primarily used to combat the effects of menopause. Studies have shown that estrogen may also help relieve some symptoms associated with mood, bone density, and heart health.

How Long Do Pellets Last?

Pellets last up to three to six months depending on gender, weight, absorption rates, and the amount of deficiency or surplus of hormones present within the patient at the time of insertion. Pellets are reinserted between two to four times per year to help keep hormones optimized and balanced and may take up to two insertions before feeling the full benefits.

What Is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone normally found in both men and women that is responsible for many critical body processes. Testosterone is produced in the testes and ovaries, and deficiencies can occur in men and women as the body ages.

What is Estrogen?

Estrogen is a hormone that possesses many functions and occurs in the bodies of both men and women. In women, estrogen is commonly associated with reproduction—it prompts the menstrual cycle and develops the female body’s secondary sex characteristics. However, in both sexes, estrogen is responsible for many facets of bone health, cholesterol metabolism, and the thickness and collagen content of the skin.

Suboxone Therapy

Relief from opiate addiction with safe, trusted oral treatment options under expert supervision and with the support of counseling.

How do I know if Suboxone is right for me?

The best way to determine if Suboxone is the right medication for you is to speak to your physician who can evaluate your needs and recommend the appropriate treatment for you. Suboxone is known as a safe and effective medication that can help individuals who are grappling with an opioid addiction. If you have become dependent on one or more opioids, incorporating Suboxone into a comprehensive plan at a medication assisted treatment program can help you put your abuse to an end without struggling with cravings or painful withdrawal symptoms.

Can I become addicted to Suboxone?

Yes. Suboxone is a powerful medication that can lead to dependency and tolerance if it is abused. If taken as prescribed, Suboxone is safe and effective. Comprised of two primary ingredients (buprenorphine and naloxone), Suboxone is able to stimulate the same receptors in the brain that other opioids do all without creating the same uncoordinated high. As a result, buprenorphine is able to help you stay focused on your daily goals and accomplish them.

How long will I need to be on Suboxone?

The period of time that you will need to be on Suboxone will be a decision that you and your doctor will make. Extensive research has proven that Suboxone is safe to use both long- and short-term. Some people take Suboxone for long periods of time, while others only take it for a little while before tapering off. Suboxone is beneficial in the sense that it stops drug cravings and withdrawal symptoms so that individuals can maintain mental clarity so they can continue working, going to school, engaging in therapy, and so on. Suboxone’s effectiveness does not lessen over time, which means that you can keep using it as long as you need.

Does Suboxone interact with other drugs or medications?

Like most medications, Suboxone can cause interactions. Therefore, you should always tell your physician what medications you are on before starting a Suboxone. This medication can cause powerful effects when combined with other opioids such as oxycodone, codeine, hydrocodone, and heroin. It also causes negative effects when combined with alcohol. Those who are taking Suboxone should not take sleeping pills, narcotic painkillers, or sedatives, and should not drink alcohol. In regards to all other medications, please speak with your physician to determine what is safe and what is not.

What if I no longer wish to take Suboxone? Can I stop or switch to a different medication?

Just because Suboxone is approved for long-term use does not mean that an individual has to remain on Suboxone for the rest of their life. If you and your physician decide that Suboxone is no longer the medication for you, or if you have reached a point in your treatment where you are ready to stop using medications, you can begin to taper off of Suboxone with small doses until your system is completely cleared. At that point, you can either switch medications or stay medication-free.

What is the cost of Suboxone treatment?

Best Care accepts Medicare and in-network Medicare Advantage plans for outpatient Buprenorphine treatment. The treatment at Best Care is individualized to meet the needs of each patient. As a part of these plans, individuals can obtain medication, therapy, and other services that are deemed appropriate for them. To ask about the price of care and the requirements for eligibility, contact us today.

Are you trying to get off methadone but don’t know how?

Are you ready to free yourself from the burdens of daily dosing while also having access to a physician that can provide primary care services during your treatment?
