Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a primary care physician?
Even if you aren’t sick, a good relationship with your primary care doctor is important to keep you healthy and prepared to prevent sickness or health emergencies. Your primary care doctor can refill your medications, refer you to specialists, and manage chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, anxiety, and depression.
Do you care for children under 18?
Yes, we see patients of all ages, including children aged 0 and up.
Which insurances do you accept?
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, Molina, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Molina, Oscar, Humana (PPO), Simply Healthcare, Tricare, and more. Please remember before your appointment to change your primary care physician to Dr. Emlyn Louis if you are required to do so by your insurance company.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
You will need a valid state ID or driver’s license and any insurance cards you have. If you have a Medicare, you must provide your updated Medicare ID card, even if Medicare is not your primary insurance. If you have medical records, please bring a manageable and relevant amount for the doctor to review.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes. If you have questions about your visit, feel free to call before arriving.
What if I can’t make it to the doctor’s office?
We have virtual consultation options available by phone or video. We also offer free transportation to our office by appointment for elderly Medicare patients. For bedbound patients with a medical issue preventing you from leaving your home, we can visit you in your home on a routine basis.
Do you perform physical exams for school, sports, or employers?
Yes, we see patients of all ages and perform physical exams for school, sports, and work. For work physicals there is typically a form for the doctor to sign which you can obtain from your employer and bring with you to your visit.
What languages do your providers speak?
We speak, English, Spanish, Creole, and French. If you have special communication needs please let us know prior to your appointment so we can accommodate you.
Do you require payment prior to your appointment?
Yes, if there is a charge for your visit, payment is required prior to seeing the doctor. Cash is the preferred method of payment because transactions made with credit or debit card may automatically add a surcharge to your visit fee that is determined by your credit card company.
